Jeg synes GP er dyrt.
If you find several persons ready to work at full time for years for free, propose them to create "Guitar Free"  

As you can see, there is no more evolution on PowerTab. A commercial product offers the warranty to have a constant evolution... except if piracy kill it...

Lastly there are the open source projects, like DGuitar, but it is very difficult to work like that. You always need a small group of developers working at full time for a big project. And believe me, when you'll see GP5, you'll understand how it is a "big" project.
