[English post] Help with buying a Telecaster guitar

Anbefalte innlegg

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and in Norway (Oslo), so I'm writing in English and hoping this is not breaking any rules. I don't have much experience with guitars, but I've researched a bit and I would like to buy a Telecaster. My price range is around 2500-3000 kroner max and I would also like to include the amplifier in this price.

Since I'm new here, I don't know which shops are the best price wise and which shops ship from Norway so I don't have to pay import customs cost. I've found evenstadmusikk.no, gitarhuset.no and gear4music.no. Are all of these safe options and do they ship from Norway?

I really like this guitar https://evenstadmusikk.no/squier/1037158/squier-affinity-telecaster-maple-fretboard-butterscotch-blonde and I'm considering it as my first choice.

I would really appreciate if you could give me your opinions on the guitar, some suggestions on the amplifier and provide more information about the shops. Thank you in advance!

P.S. please feel free to respond in Norwegian. I'm using translate so it's no problem.

hello, and welcome.

I would defenately buy a used instrument when considering your budget. take a look around the musical instrument section of the norwegian internet used market finn.no. here is a link to the section:

https://www.finn.no/bap/forsale/search.html?sort=RELEVANCE&sub_category=1.86.92

if you take a look there, to see if anything is to your liking, we can start from there. are you absolutely locked to the idea of a tele? use the search field to input specific brands. if tele is the way for you, I would suggest squier, yamaha, and others you know of, that has a model like that.

when it comes to amps in that price range, a used roland cube would be a nice thing to search for.

when it comes to music stores, there is a list here:

https://forum.gitarnorge.no/nettbutikker/

the ones listed in the left column are the ones located in norway.

Thanks a lot for your response and advice!

I don't really insist on buying a telecaster, it was just an idea since I like the sound of it. I'm not even sure if I should go with electric guitar or pick an acoustic. I don't mind buying a used guitar and I'm really open to hearing all suggestions for what I should buy, so please feel free to suggest a few good guitars or finn.no ads for used guitars in this price range.

I found these ones (I'm aware most of these are acoustic, I don't know anything about electric and which I should look for):

if youre only going to learn guitar, and you dont intend to play in a band or something, I would pick an acoustic guitar.

out of the ones you linked to,  the seagull is probably the one who is of the highest quality.

if you are just starting out, you might think about buying a nylon string guitar, as they are a lot less hard on your fingertips.

this is a really cheap one, that is probably playable:

this is probably a lot better, and still within your range both in oslo:

I played an acoustic guitar for a few months before, so I'm not worried about finger pain.

I researched a bit for good beginner guitars and I really like these: https://evenstadmusikk.no/fender/1133082/fender-cd-60-dread-v3-ds-natural-walnut-fingerboard

https://www.gitarhuset.no/yamaha-f370-tobacco-brown-sunburst

Any thoughts?

personally, I am a yamaha guy, so I would go with that one, if you want to buy new. they are both entry level, so there probably isnt much difference between them, but I like yamahas.

also, you should consider using the rest of the 3000 max expense on a proper setup. it will make tha guitar much more enjoyable. if you live in oslo, there should be several luthiers you could take it to. but I live in bergen, so I dont have that knowledge about oslo. or, maybe ask the guys at the place you buy it, if they can do a setup for you, or suggest someone.

I would suggest buying used at finn.no. You can get a lot more from your money in the used market, and the extra benefit can be that the guitar is set up properly, as all new guitars needs a proper setup after purchase (due to that wood changes with weather conditions and other personal preferences).. don't be too tight with brands. Any old guitar can be good, if it is in working order and set up properly.

Thanks to both of you for your help.

I already went with a new Yamaha F370. I've read that it's a great guitar for 2100 kroner. Really liking it so far and I'm sure it will serve me well!
